Software Distribution (Imaging)

Description:

Confederation College primarily uses Microsoft Software on personal computers. We have a College Educational Site License for the Microsoft Software like Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. This Microsoft software is found on virtually all of the personal computers at Confederation College as part of our Standard College Image.

Some programs at Confederation College use specialized software. For example the Engineering programs might use Autocad. Specialized software is installed on specific College Images and these Images are deployed into specific College Computer Labs. To use the specific software you must use the computers in the program-specific lab.

Computers at Confederation College typically have the image refreshed twice a year. This usually occurs in the Summer or around the Christmas break. Academic Computer Images are protected from viruses using Microsoft Security Essentials. Additionally we use DeepFreeze to lock our images to prevent unauthorized software from being installed on the College computers.

Confederation College does have some Apple Mac Computers. They are primarily located in the CAMP area of the College supporting the Digital Media Production, Film Production and Interactive Media Development programs. There are some Mac Computers located in the College Library. ???
