Important Documents for International Students

General Important Documents

All international students will require the following and are also required to fill out this form:

  • Bring originals and make photocopies of your passport (page with your picture and ID information), visa page, your Study Permit and your Letter of Acceptance from Confederation.
  • Driver’s license/international driver’s license and driving insurance records (if you plan to drive or bring your car) 
  • Immunization and medical records (translated if necessary) - see below for more details.
  • Identification other than your passport Credit card (if applicable) 
  • Reference letters from your employers (if you had a job before coming to Canada)

Community Services Important Documents Needed

 

Developmental Services Worker

Immunization required:

  • Immunization and Communicable Disease’s Form*
  • Up to date Immunization
  • T.B. skin test

Other documentation required:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.**
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training completed within the first semester.
  • Criminal reference check (vulnerable screening)
  • Physical demands (possess the physical capability to lift and support people)

Early Childhood Education

Immunization required:

  • Immunization and Communicable Disease’s Form*
  • Up-to-date immunization record
  • T.B. skin test

Other documentation required:

  • A current police record check
  • Level C First Aid**

Personal Support Worker

Immunization required:

  • Up-to-date immunization record*
  • Two-step Tuberculosis (TB)

Other documentation required:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR: Level Certificate (Health Care Provider level)**
  • Current Criminal Reference Check for Service with the Vulnerable Sector
  • A completed Health Centre Questionnaire

Recreation Therapy Program

Immunization required:

  • Up-to-date immunization record
  • T.B. skin test

Other documentation required:

  • Standard Fist Aid/Infant/Child/CPR Certification**
  • A recent Criminal Reference Check must be provided to the Program Coordinator at program registration and at the beginning of each academic year.

Health Sciences Important Documents Needed

Dental Assisting - Level I and II

Immunization required:

  • Immunization and Communicable Disease’s Form*  (submitted to the Health Centre prior to studies)
  • Up-to-date immunization record
  • Two step T.B. skin test (submitted to the Health Centre prior to studies)

Other documentation required:

  • Dental assisting kit (approx. cost: 1,000)
  • Physical demands (possess good hand eye coordination, manual dexterity, physical and motor capabilities)
  • Certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Certificate in First Aid prior to the commencement of studies.**

Dental Hygiene

Immunization required:

  • Immunization and Communicable Disease’s Form*  (submitted to the Health Centre prior to studies)
  • Up-to-date immunization record
  • Two step T.B. skin test (submitted to the Health Centre prior to studies)

Other documentation required:

  • Dental assisting kit
  • Physical demands (possess good hand eye coordination, manual dexterity, physical and motor capabilities)
  • Certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Certificate in First Aid prior to the commencement of studies.**

* Hepatitis B and Influenza-vaccination (HB) required
** Training may be done locally at St. John's Ambulance and Red Cross
