Online Learning

To be admitted to postsecondary programs, you need one of the following:​

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent​
• General Educational Development (GED)​
• Successful completion of a Mature Student Assessment​
• Appropriate credits from the Academic and Career Entrance program (ACE)

For non-postsecondary programs, you need one of the following:​

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent​
• Being 19 years of age or older, or approval from a Program Officer

Yes, some courses and programs have prerequisites:​

• Course Prerequisites: Ensure you've completed any required courses before registering to avoid issues with course material or your transcript.​
• Program Prerequisites: Some programs require specific prerequisites before applying. Verify completion to prevent application issues.

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Yes, parking permits are required on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.​

• What happens if a course is cancelled?
  Confederation College reserves the right to cancel or adjust start dates with short notice. Full refunds will be issued for courses cancelled by the College.​
• How will I be notified of a course cancellation?
  We will attempt to contact you by email in advance of a cancellation. However, we cannot assume responsibility for any expenses incurred if you arrive for a class that has been cancelled or rescheduled.​
• How can I ensure my contact information is up-to-date?

• What is the refund policy for withdrawals?
  To be eligible for a full refund, you must withdraw at least 14 days before the first class. A $20.00 administration fee per course will be withheld if withdrawing 1–14 days prior to the deadline. No refunds are issued for withdrawals submitted after the deadline, regardless of attendance.​
• How are refunds processed?
  Refunds are issued by cheque if the original payment was made in person, online, or by your employer or sponsoring agency. Please allow a minimum of four weeks for processing.

Submit your withdrawal request by email to onlinelearning@confederationcollege.ca. Refer to your online learning information email for the specific date to qualify for a refund, minus the administrative fee. Visit our online learning web page for more information.

No, online, OL courses are not self-paced. Every course has a start and end date, and a weekly schedule with deadlines that must be adhered to. Courses are available 24/7 allowing access to content anytime during the week to complete tasks outlined on the course schedule.
In rare cases, courses have mandatory group work where students may need to be available for group discussions. This will be outlined at the beginning of the course.

Yes. You must be 19 years of age or older to register into an OntarioLearn course. Students 18 years of age or less must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent to register. For specific program admission requirements, please see the Admissions Department page.

Yes. Online courses will have assignments and/or exams which can be completed online within the course. The amount of assignments and exams will vary by course and are used to assess learning throughout the course.

No. Certificates are not granted for taking individual courses, they are only granted to students who have successfully completed all courses required in a post-secondary program. Post-secondary credit is given for successful completion of an online course. A copy of an official transcript can show course completion.

Most online courses are offered during the start of our three academic semesters (winter, spring and fall) and run for 14 weeks. Many courses also have monthly intakes, which means they start the first business days of the month and run for 14 weeks.
