This course provides students with an in-depth study of Canadian legal principles and practices related to discrimination in employment. Students will examine prohibited grounds of discrimination regarding employment, the employer’s obligation to accommodate to the point of undue hardship under Human Rights law, and the employer’s role in making the workplace accessible under the Ontario Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Students will also consider strategies to address discrimination and harassment in the workplace and discuss the employer’s responsibility to ensure a harassment-free workplace.

Microsoft Access is a computerized database that allows you to manipulate, link, chart, query and report your data to customize the information you need. You will learn to use Microsoft Access 365 to create databases, view, format, manage and modify data tables and fields. You will learn to create forms, queries, reports and explore data relationships using its pull-down menus, toolbars and dialog boxes.
Computer Software Requirements: MS Access version 2019/ or 365. Access running on a Mac is not supported.
Students are introduced to different scripting language tools such as SQL, NOSQL, Apache, Java, and Python that support data analysis on large volumes of data. They will also analyze the strengths and limitations of current tools used today. Students will review and recommend which tools will best support data analysis, data quality, problem solving, analytics, and business decision-making for different functions and industries.

This foundational course introduces the student to current learning, instructional design theories, and models used to guide the effective design of online learning environments. The student will analyze learning needs of their target audience/learner profiles/ learner analysis and develop a design plan for a specific instructional approach
This course explores the framework of financial accounting and the statements of comprehensive income, financial position, and changes in equity. Students examine intermediate accounting topics with an emphasis on the recognition of assets and revenue recognition. PREREQUISITE: OL090 OL 091 or equivalent
Students review the basics of corporate culture and how corporate culture impacts on customer service. Areas of study include service environment, organizational openness and influencing others to adopt a service culture. As a project, students learn to create a customer service culture action plan based on identifying gaps between current and desired practices.
Environmental Citizenship is based on the principles of national citizenship, yet it goes beyond political borders to emphasize global environmental rights and responsibilities. An environmental citizen is committed to learning more about the environment and to taking responsible environmental action. Through a combination of interactive activities, assignments and discussions, students learn how they are personally connected with current environmental issues. Students are also encouraged to adopt attitudes and behaviours that foster global environmental responsibility.

This course focuses on several important person-to-person relationship-building strategies that contribute to success in professional selling to the business-to-business (B2B) marketplace. Students will learn the fundamentals of relationship selling, the importance of prospecting for new clients, preparations for a sales call, and make strategic and ethical decisions to develop business. Students will learn the critical steps in the professional selling process and have the opportunity to demonstrate the completion of each stage of the selling process through varied techniques.
