The team at Aaron D. Wersing is proud to offer the annual Employment Discrimination Scholarship Contest. We believe that students should understand the ins and outs of employment discrimination laws before they enter the workforce full-time. We are asking students to write a 500-word essay about what employment discrimination law is and how job discrimination rates can be reduced and mitigated. We are looking for the most creative and cohesive essay. The student who is selected will receive a $1,000 scholarship to put towards their tuition costs.

• Applicants must be EITHER be out-going high school seniors (graduating summer 2025) OR students currently enrolled in a college, trade school, university, or law school as of the start of the fall 2025 semester.

Eligibility Criteria

• The Candidate must be enrolled or planning to enroll for undergraduate or postgraduate engineering course (for, eg. B.E, B.Tech, M.E. M.Tech) with an accredited college/university.
• The Candidate must be at least 18 years of age while applying.
• The Candidate must completed High School / Secondary School education.
• The Candidate must citizen or permanent resident of USA or Canada.
• While applying, the applicant should have completed at least one term of college/university engineering course after completing high school or secondary school education.
• The students having a time gap between graduation and post graduation are not eligible.
• College dropouts are not eligible.

BAY Credit Union is happy to provide two bursary programs for our membership. One for high school students entering post-secondary, and one for post secondary students currently registered and continuing their education.

Scholarships range from $500-$1000 for our student/members ENTERING post-secondary and also students CURRENTLY REGISTERED in post-secondary education.

Criteria for Post Secondary Students Applying for Post Secondary Bursary

• Complete the BAY Credit Union Bursary Application form, as detailed, immediately below;
• Provide one reference
• Proof of registration at a post-secondary educational institution in the current term, including undergraduate, graduate and technical education of three weeks or more in a program recognized in the Income Tax Act;
• Have been a member of BAY Credit Union for at least one year; and
• Attach a copy of your most recent transcript of marks by email to bursary@baycreditunion.com- Please make the subject line “ ‘YOUR NAME’ - Bursary”

Criteria for High School Students looking for Post-Secondary Bursary:

1. Complete the Bay Credit Union Bursary Application Form (as detailed, immediately below);
2. EMAIL a copy of their most recent transcript of marks to bursary@baycreditunion.com;
3. Provide at least one written/email reference from an educator familiar with the student;
4. Be graduating from a Secondary School in the District of Thunder Bay
5. Be attending a post-secondary educational institution in the next succeeding academic term;
6. Either be an active member of Bay Credit Union, or the son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter of an active member;
7. Applicants are encouraged, but not required to file electronically. If filing electronically transcripts, references and any other additional materials may be scanned and attached as a .pdf for .jpg file and sent via EMAIL to bursary@baycreditunion.com.

The Canadian Association for Women in Construction is a not-for-profit organization of women working in various construction-related fields. CAWIC is offering bursaries in the amount of $1,500 to qualifying female students who are currently enrolled in a construction-related field of study.

Only one application per sector per fiscal year (April 1 - March 31) in the Health Sector and the Arts & Culture sector, and education sector.

The main focus of this sector is on educational activities to support and encourage youth to pursue and complete their education with the goal of developing our youth as future leaders of our communities. We view education as the primary responsibility of the federal government and/or Chief and Council and provide limited assistance under unique circumstances.

The ECE Grant Assistance Program has two exciting grant opportunities available to students. Our first grant, The Early Childhood Educators Qualifications Upgrade Program, is for those already working in the Early Learning and Child Care sector wishing to obtain their Early Childhood Education Diploma.

Our second grant, The Leadership Grant, is for those who have already completed their Diploma in Early Childhood Education, and would like to specialize their skills in the areas of Pedagogical Leadership in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education administration, management, facilities management, fiscal responsibility, governance, human resources, employment standards and labour relations.

Purpose: 

To encourage Aboriginal Canadians to pursue a career in journalism through a combination of studies at a Canadian postsecondary institution and experience in a newsroom.

The Award: 

A gift of $4,000, intended to defray education costs. Scholarship recipients with appropriate experience and qualifications may also receive an offer of temporary employment or other opportunities at The Canadian Press, at the sole direction of the scholarship provider.

Eligibility: 

To be awarded to an Aboriginal Canadian (status or non-status Indian, Metis or Inuit) who is enrolled at a Canadian university or community college. The student must already be attending the postsecondary institution and must be either enrolled in a journalism program or actively involved with a news organization associated with the institution (such as a student newspaper or broadcast station). The scholarship is open to both French and English-speaking aboriginal Canadians.

Kin Canada Bursaries was established in 1994 by Kin Canada as a legacy to its Founder, Harold Allin Rogers, O.C., O.B.E. (1899-1994) and is funded by Kinsmen and Kinettes across Canada. The program was established to promote, encourage and sponsor educational programs and activities, by providing financial assistance in the amount of $1000 to applicants in their quest for higher learning at a recognized postsecondary institution.

Eligibility:

• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Must be a full-time student in the process of graduating from high school or currently studying or registered at a post-secondary institution.
• Must complete the current application form and submit it to the Kinsmen, Kinette or Kin Club closest to their permanent residence by February 1. Bursary winners are notified before June 30 by their sponsoring club.
• Must not have previouly been awarded a Kin Canada Bursary.
• Will be evaluated on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need.

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Student Bursary Program provides bursaries to registered students who are verified Métis citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario. Applicants will be required to consent to a citizenship verification check to confirm eligibility for these awards.

The intention of the Mazinaajim Children’s Foundation bursary program is to support applicants who clearly demonstrate financial need. Bursary funds do not have to be repaid.

The Mazinaajim Children’s Foundation bursary program application will be available four times a year; March 1st, June 1st, September 1st and December 1st.

The NWAC ISET program helps Indigenous women and gender-diverse individuals to fully participate in economic opportunities. Through NWAC’s agreement with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) we are able to provide supports such as tuition, living allowance, childcare, job starts and other resources that can help Indigenous women reach their employment and skills training goals. Client Eligibility; Post-secondary funding for certificate or diploma programs up to 2 years or in the last two years of a degree program.

Project Hero, started in 2009 by Retired General Rick Hillier and Honorary Lt. Colonel Kevin Reed, is a unique program providing undergraduate scholarships to children of fallen soldiers. Since September 2009, many of Canada’s finest colleges and universities are offering tuition to children of CAF personnel who have lost their lives while serving in an active mission.

To be eligible, the recipient must be:

1. A dependent of a Canadian Armed Forces personnel deceased while serving in an active mission
2. Under the age of twenty-six
3. Registered as a full-time undergraduate student at the college, in a program of study eligible for funding by the Province of the location of the college
4. Meet the academic requirements for entry to the academic program for which the recipient applies and maintain satisfactory academic standing in the program

Eligibility to the scholarship program for the children of Canadian Armed Forces personnel deceased while serving in an active mission will be determined by Canadian Armed Forces criteria.

The Strong Mothers Achieving Remarkable Triumph (S.M.A.R.T.) Scholarship is awarded each year to support a single mother in pursuing her education and improving life for herself and her child or children. The scholarship is presented annually during the London’s Got Talent fundraiser—an event that brings the community together to recognize and celebrate the strength of single mothers.

Our Indigenous Education Awards Program supports First Nation, Inuit and Métis students across Canada by providing financial assistance to help them in their quest for higher education. These awards, bursaries and scholarships are given to students who demonstrate leadership capabilities and strive to be role models in their schools and communities. There are three different awards available: Merit Awards ($500) – for students completing Grades 10 – 12, including upgrading; Bursaries ($1,000) – for students enrolled in trade, diploma or certificate programs; Scholarships ($1,500) – for students enrolled in degree or graduate programs. There is a maximum of one award per applicant per year. Students must re-apply each year if they wish to be considered.

Five (5) scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 each will be awarded to Anishinabek First Nation students at the post-secondary level. Eligibility: Applicant must be a registered full-time student at an accredited post-secondary college or university. Students who are currently enrolled as well as those who have completed studies and are graduating in 2022 are eligible. Applicant must be a registered member of one of the 39 Anishinabek First Nations.

The Bill 7 Award is a scholarship for individuals with demonstrated financial need after accessing available public financial supports. To be eligible to receive a Bill 7 Award scholarship, individuals must also meet ALL of the following three criteria: You are attending or accepted by a Post-Secondary Educational Institution in the Province of Ontario. You are pursuing your FIRST post-secondary program of study. You identify as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, two-spirited or queer (LGBTQ)

The CTAA Scholarships are funded by the Canadian Technical Asphalt Association to support students preparing for careers as scientists, technologists or engineers in the general area of asphalt paving technology. The Canadian Technical Asphalt Association (CTAA) is Canada’s link to the international asphalt community and encourages research on asphalt materials, mixtures, design, manufacturing, construction processes, and related technologies.

Hamilton Community Foundation

Provides bursaries to students in any subject enrolled in a college, university or institution in Canada or the US, who can demonstrate financial need and who have graduated from a publicly funded secondary school in Hamilton. Undergrad and postgrad students are eligible.

This scholarship is open to Indigenous students who are residents of Canada or the United States of America and are currently enrolled in a Canadian or U.S post-secondary institution in any area of study. You must be between 18 and 30 years of age. The scholarship is $2,500 CAD. The money will be sent directly to you. This way, you may use the funds towards your school supplies, boarding or tuition.

Funds are available to First Nation and Métis individuals, governments and organizations through a competitive application process specific to groups and/or individuals. The NIB Trust Fund offers a new opportunity separate from Indian residential schools compensation packages.

Hamilton Community Foundation

Provides bursaries to students who can demonstrate financial need and who are enrolled in a music program at a college, university or institution in Canada, the US or abroad. Undergrad and postgrad students are eligible.

Confederation College is excited to offer two entry scholarships for international students starting in January 2026. These scholarships support students enrolling in eligible programs and help ensure a successful transition to college life.

Eligibility:

• Available to international students registering in one of the following two-year postgraduate programs:
  • Industrial Manufacturing Processes
• Students must apply and pay their tuition deposit before September 31, 2025.
• Students must receive a valid study permit and register for their program.

Scholarship Details:

• The $1,000 scholarship will be applied to the student’s account, after January 20, which is the last day to withdraw in January 2026.
• It can be applied to future semester fees.
• This scholarship is not distributed in cash.

On-Campus Residence Scholarship – Two Months Free Accommodation

Eligibility:

• Available to international students registering in one of the following undergraduate programs:
  • Aviation Technician – Aircraft Maintenance
  • Environmental Technician – Water Resource Management
  • Interactive Media Development
• Students must apply and pay their tuition deposit before May 31, 2025.
• Students must also apply for Residence(opens in new window) once they receive their study permit. A $100 residence application fee applies.

Scholarship Details:

• Students will receive two months’ free accommodation at Confederation College’s on-campus residence, Sibley Hall.
• Students must sign a rental agreement for a minimum one-semester stay and pay for the first two months of accommodation prior to arrival.
• Upon arrival and registration for classes, Confederation College will cover the balance of the semester’s accommodation costs (i.e. the remaining two months).
• The scholarship is not transferable.

Accommodation Features:

• Double-occupancy dorm-style rooms with shared facilities.

The PS752 Commemorative Scholarship Program will disburse 176 one-year scholarships over 5 years, starting from 2023-2024. Scholarships are for one academic year. Eligible scholarship holders may reapply for the following year.

Who can apply

To be eligible for the scholarship program, you must:

• be a student enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in Canada (i.e., for the next two academic terms)
• have completed a minimum of one full year in your degree program before the application deadline

If you are already participating in a scholarship program funded by the Government of Canada, you are not eligible for this scholarship program.

If you are a Canadian applicant, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a protected person under subsection 95(2) of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act(opens in new window) as of the application deadline date.

If you are an international applicant, you must have a valid Study Permit.

  • How your chosen degree relates to the victims.
  • Your understanding and awareness of the tragedy.
  • Why you feel a connection with the victims.
  • How you will use the scholarship to contribute to awareness among Canadians of the victims of PS752 and to remember and honour their legacies.

Hamilton Community Foundation

Provides performing arts bursaries to students of voice, drama, dance or musical instruments who are enrolled in a college, university or institution in Canada or the US, who can demonstrate financial need, are and who have graduated from a publicly funded secondary school in Hamilton or Burlington. Undergrad and postgrad students are eligible.

The Gunn’s Hill Limited Partnership offers bursaries to support Indigenous students in Ontario pursuing post-secondary education or vocational training in the renewable energy sector. This initiative aims to encourage academic and career growth within fields relevant to sustainable energy.

Award Details

A single recipient may receive the full bursary amount of $4,000 CAD, or the funds may be divided among up to four recipients, with a minimum of $1,000 CAD each. The final allocation depends on the number and quality of applications received.

• Open to Indigenous individuals living in Ontario
• Applicants must be enrolled in post-secondary education or vocational training related to renewable energy
• Programs must be relevant to the renewable energy industry (submit program details and proof of registration)
• One completed application form is required
• Applicants must submit a short essay (1–2 pages) describing:
  • How their education or training applies to the renewable energy industry
  • How the bursary will support their education
  • A brief summary of the costs the bursary will help cover

The Helen Bassett Commemorative Award to four young Indigenous women, Two-Spirit, or gender-diverse students in the amount of $1,000 each. The awards are made possible by the generous donation of Helen Bassett, an Ontario artist and passionate advocate for the advancement of Indigenous women and for fair solutions to Indigenous land claim issues. Applicants must: Be currently pursuing post-secondary studies (priority is given to students who are studying law or are in a law-related field) Demonstrate financial need. Be an Indigenous woman, gender-diverse, or Two-Spirit person under 31 years of age. Demonstrate a commitment to improving the situation of Indigenous women and youth in Canada politically, culturally, economically, or otherwise

Indspire has disbursed over $54 million through 16,000 bursaries and scholarships to First Nation, Inuit, and Metis students across Canada since 1985. There is one application to completed in order to be considered for a multitude of scholarships & bursaries.

Full and part time studies in college, university, skilled trades, apprenticeships, and technology programs. There is one application for all of Indspire’s bursaries, scholarships, and awards (with a few exceptions that you’ll see below). You only need to complete the application once to be considered for all applicable bursaries, scholarships, and awards. September 2023 to August 2024 academic year.

We are delighted to announce that two $5,000 scholarships and two $2,500 scholarships are available to assist First Nations students with post-secondary education costs this year.

Named in loving memory of Jordan River Anderson, the Jordan's Principle Scholarship will be awarded to First Nations students studying children’s holistic health and wellbeing.

This scholarship awards up to 40 scholarships of $5,000 CAD to adult learners aged 25 and older who are entering or returning to part-time or full-time studies.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have Protected Person or Convention Refugee status (claimants are not eligible).
• Must be active in the workforce or seeking employment (not retired).
• Must be entering or enrolled in studies at the Bachelor’s, Master’s (course-based or research-based), Advanced Diploma, Post-Graduate Diploma, Technical Diploma, or Post-Graduate Certificate level.
• Applicants pursuing a Bachelor’s degree must not have graduated from high school within the past seven years.
• Applicants pursuing a Master’s degree must not have completed or graduated from a post-secondary program (e.g., Bachelor’s degree, Post-Graduate Diploma) within the past two years.
• Must have at least one year (or two terms) of studies remaining at the time of application.

Award Allocation:

• The scholarship funds are evenly split between recipients and their institutions.

The RBC Future Launch Scholarships for Indigenous Youth awards 20 scholarships annually worth up to $10,000 (for up to four years) to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students across Canada.

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their engagement in community, financial need, and likelihood of success in future studies and goals.

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) Bursary Program is available to status First Nations students who are either entering or continuing post-secondary education. Eligible students must come from one of the 33 SLFNHA-serviced communities and may be enrolled either part-time or full-time.

• Open to status First Nations students from SLFNHA-serviced communities
• Applicants must be entering or enrolled in a post-secondary institution
• Available for both part-time and full-time students

Skyler “Sky” Howard Don Meshake Memorial Bursary

Applicants with outstanding athletic participation and achievement may also apply for the Skyler “Sky” Howard Don Meshake Memorial Bursary. This is a separate recognition under the same bursary program.

• An additional 500-word statement outlining athletic participation and achievement is required.

The Shannen’s Dream Scholarship is an award to assist First Nations youth with post-secondary education costs (university, college, trades). As a “pay-it-forward” scholarship, winners must make a fair and measurable contribution to the Shannen’s Dream campaign or related First Nations initiative as a condition of receiving the award. Examples of this could include coaching youth sports, doing a presentation about Shannen Koostachin and Shannen’s Dream, starting a club at your school to learn more about equity, etc.

Pay-it-forward does not mean a financial contribution back to the scholarship.

The Shannen’s Dream Scholarship is made possible by generous donations from the Collure family from Richmond Hill, Ontario, and education technology company Top Hat. With the support of these amazing donors, we are delighted to announce that four $10,000 scholarships are available to assist First Nations youth with post-secondary education costs this year.

Eligibility:

• Students must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, permanent resident, or a protected person.
• Students must be enrolled full-time in the first or second year of a two- or three-year program at Confederation College.
• Students must be in financial need.

Each application must include the following:

1. Financial Need: A demonstration of the financial impact that this bursary would have on you. (Max. 750 characters.) (Be data driven in your response.)
2. Challenges or Barriers: Please demonstrate how the bursary will help eliminate challenges or barriers (educational or personal) to participating in and completing your education. (max 750 characters)
3. Essay: A short essay (max 10,000 characters) by you the student describing the impact that the bursary will have on your ability to attend Confederation College. The essay should also include your involvement in the community.
4. Letters of Support: Three letters of support from people who know you. This can include a past or current employer, a teacher, a college administrator, a member of a community or campus organization, someone involved in student services or a faculty member.

BURSARY GUIDELINES

• All recipients must be citizens or permanent residents of Canada and attending a post-secondary institution in Canada.
• Bursaries will be awarded based on financial need and personal circumstance, often in conjunction with a student’s effort and commitment to his/her studies.
• Preference may be given to those who have no other avenues of funding or supports in their pursuit of post secondary education.
• Bursaries awarded are to be applied against tuition, school fees and books only.
• Students must be enrolled in a full-time course of study.
• Students enrolled in graduate or Ph.D. programs are not eligible.

The Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities, funded generously by the April 1 Foundation, provides financial support to Canadian youth with disabilities to pursue post-secondary education and realize their full potential. This scholarship aims to make a profound impact on the lives of Canadian youth with disabilities by removing financial barriers and supporting career aspirations through post-secondary education. Funding of up to $10,000 per year (up to a maximum of $40,000) is available for youth with disabilities looking to complete a 1- to 4-year post-secondary program at a publicly funded institution in Canada.

In an effort to reduce the number of young drivers getting behind the wheel while under the influence, the lawyers at Wells Call are offering a $1500 scholarship to students. We are asking students to write an essay of at least 500 words (and no more than 1000 words) sharing a compelling idea that could help lower or even prevent drunk driving among teens. Applicants must be EITHER outgoing high school seniors (graduating summer 2025) OR students currently enrolled in a college, trade school, or university as of the start of the fall 2025 semester.

Wataynikaneyap Power is offering a two-year bursary and mentorship program throughout 2024 to support grade 12 and post-secondary students from the Project’s owner communities.* Successful applicants receive a $1,000 cash bursary and will be connected with experienced staff at Wataynikaneyap Power (PM) for mentorship. Students will also be introduced to the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission Project and energy sector careers throughout the school year. The bursary for students from the Projects’ 24 First Nation owner communities with an academic focus on or interest in: Environmental Management, Health and Safety, Finance, Human Resources, Business, Project Management, or Engineering. Bursary funding is split into payments and is based on reasonable communication with a mentor and academic standing.
