Remote Assistance

Service Description

Remote assistance is a service offered by the Computer Services Help Desk that allows a technician to remotely connect to a users’ PC or other computing device.  By allowing the technician to see and interact with a user’s desktop, the technician is more quickly/efficiently able to solve computer desktop repair problems.

When a user contacts the Help Desk for technical support, if the technician deems it appropriate, they can elect to perform remote assistance support on the user’s computer.  The Help Desk technician uses special remote assistance software in order to make the connection to the user’s computing device.  In all cases the technician will first ask the users permission in order to do this and as an added security measure, the user will also be required to either enter in a technician provided code or use a web link in order to make the secure remote assistance connection.  While working through the remote assistance session, the technician can continue to talk/guide the user over the telephone.
