Alternative E-mail Addresses for College Staff (Computer Services)

Computer Services has received several reports of college business e-mails being inadvertently sent to students that had an e-mail address very similar to that of an employee.

In response, Computer Services has implemented alternative E-mail aliases (addresses) for all College staff in the form of [email protected]Your incoming e-mail can continue to be addressed to your current address, or this new address formatStudent e-mail addresses have not been aliased in this manner so that the distinction between staff and students is clear.

Your E-mail alias has been generated from your full name as it is registered in Outlook (which is displayed in brackets beside your account name within Outlook).  If you are commonly known by a different first name or nickname, contact the Computer Services Helpdesk (x6488, [email protected]) to have it changed.

Currently, these aliases are being used only for sending outgoing e-mail to other College users. Incoming e-mail will still appear as being addressed with the previous format(username (firstname lastname), whether the message was sent using either address format. ???

The e-mail usernames for College employees in the Outlook global address book will still appear in the old format. When manually typing an e-mail address to send a message using this new format, make sure to include the complete address (e.g.[email protected] and not just Bill.Smith).
