Smart Phones / Cell Phone Services

Description:

Confederation College has partnered with Thunder Bay Telephone to provide cell phone / smart phone services to Confederation College employees. The College supports Android, Blackberry and iPhone devices. These devices are registered to Confederation College on a centralized cell plan that provides for a large pool of minutes that is shared with all the College phones. Also flexible data plans and centralized billing are components of this service.

Confederation College smart phones are setup to access your College email and College calendar. Additionally the phone will be configured to use the College wireless Internet services, as well as the TbayTel mobile Internet services with a valid data plan.

Who is it for:

Smart phones are for College employees who have jobs that require them to be out of the office for more than 50% of the time. College employees that work on call and are required to be available after normal work hours also qualify for the College smart phone service.

How do I use it:

To get a College smart phone, please fill out the forms found in the “College Smart Phone and Cell Phone Use” policy document. These forms must be signed by your supervisor and also signed by a Dean or VP. This form is then sent to Computer Services. Computers Services will contact you for information on the make and model of the phone you would like. They will also request a GL code for phone billing. Once this information is collected, an order will be placed with TbayTel to purchase your smart phone. Charges for the phone will be billed directly to the GL code that you provided on a monthly basis.
