Wireless Internet Access (Computer Services)

Description:

Confederation College has installed Cisco wireless access points in all of its buildings. This includes not only the buildings in Thunder Bay but also the Regional Campus locations including Fort Frances, Kenora, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Geraldton, Marathon and Wawa.

Wireless access points allow your mobile devices to connect to the College network. They also allow your mobile devices access to the Internet. Examples of some mobile devices are: iPads, iPods, Blackberries, Android phones and tablets, Laptops, etc.

Who is it for:

Our Wireless Internet Access is provided for all Students, Faculty and Staff at Confederation College. It supports the 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b standards using an SSID and WEP key.

How do I use it:

Wireless Access at Confederation College requires that you have a device that can communicate using one of the wireless standards listed above. Additionally you must configure your device with the current SSID and WEP key. The SSID and WEP key can be obtained by talking with the Confederation College Help Desk at 475-6488 or email [email protected] . If you are not sure how to configure your device, there are instruction sheets for some devices located at the Helpdesk in the Shuniah Building of the Thunder Bay Campus. You can also talk with the Helpdesk staff and they will help you get connected.
