Confederation College has been fortunate to receive funding to support some new initiatives around the Personal Support Worker program. The goal is to increase the number of students participating in the program, while supporting recruitment and retention, and facilitating alternative pathways to graduation.

Please join me in welcoming two staff members to the Personal Support Worker program:

Tim Larocque is joining us as Project Manager, Personal Support Worker Program Development. Tim has spent the last three years working as a researcher and program manager at St. Joseph’s Care Group for two different programs, including a continuing medical education program for primary care providers to improve healthcare delivery in rural and remote communities across Ontario. Prior to that, Tim was a full-time professor at Georgian College teaching in the School of Health, Wellness, and Sciences. As a researcher, Tim has several journal publications and patents, along with many national and international conference presentations. From an educational perspective, he has an MSc and PhD, and is currently completing his MBA.

Andrea Collins is joining us as Project Officer, PSW Initiatives. Andrea, who has worked at the College for over 12 years, comes to the position with previous experience as a Project Officer. She has worked for Workforce Development , Academic Upgrading and Northwest Employment Works in the roles of Project Officer, Sessional Teacher, and Employment Advisor, where she worked on multiple initiatives, including Supercom, the Water Treatment Program, pre-apprenticeship and post-secondary training opportunities with Indigenous Organizations (like KKETS and AETS),  and bringing a compressed Business Fundamentals Program to the Lac Seul Training Centre of Excellence in Hudson.
