Maadaadizi Orientation Event

 to Welcome and Celebrate Indigenous Post-Secondary Students

 

September 10, 2022 THUNDER BAY, ON – Indigenous students attending Confederation College, Lakehead University or Oshki-Pimache-O-Win; The Wenjack Institute, in the fall, will be welcomed and celebrated at the 7th Annual Maadaadizi Orientation event on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm at Marina Park (Festival Area). 

“Maadaadizi” - meaning “starts a journey” in Ojibwe - is designed to connect Indigenous students and their families to the supports and services of the post-secondary educational institutions in the city and to help orient them to the City of Thunder Bay. This free event is open to everyone and will feature a variety of information booths from local organizations along with children’s activities. Students will also enjoy free food and a chance to win prizes. 

Headlining the event will be a keynote address by special guest, Pam Palmater, as well as musical entertainment by Keith Secola and Nick Sherman.  The event will take place, rain or shine.

The Maadaadizi Orientation event is hosted by Lakehead University, Confederation College, Oshki-Pimache-O-Win; The Wenjack Education Institute, Matawa Post-Secondary Education, Northern Nishnawbe Education Council, Seven Generations Education Institute, and Eabametoong First Nation.
