Sic Sox Circular Ltd. textile recycling bins are now located on campus for all to use!

Simply place all your used textile materials in the colourful bin located by the McIntyre Building in Parking Lot M (right off Williams Street).

The following Items are accepted in the bin:

  • Household and industrial textiles in all conditions
  • Bedding, towels, and pillows in all conditions
  • Clothing in all conditions
  • Gently used shoes and handbags
  • Stuffed animals

Gently used donations will be cleaned and resold online or at the Sic Sox thrift store location, while landfill quality material will be diverted to a shredder to break down textiles into usable fibers with the goal of turning these fibers into an industry approved housing insulation product.

Sic Sox Circular Ltd. is an Indigenous startup company, headquartered in Brunswick House First Nation, looking to create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future by providing a one-of-a-kind textile recycling program that provides communities with a way to participate in landfill diversion of clothing and textiles while providing measurable benefits to the North. As operations scale, Sic Sox intents to commit 10% of profits of thrift sales towards Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls supports and gender equality programs.

Textile recycling supports SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 15 – Life on Land. If you have any questions about textile recycling on campus, connect with [email protected]
