Lake of the Woods CICE Students raise funds for the Salvation Army’s Miracle Marathon 

As part of a community engagement assignment in one of their classes this semester, CICE students decided to raise money for the Salvation Army’s 32nd Annual Miracle Marathon, held on Friday November 25, 2022 at their Thrift store in Kenora. Through the sales of freshly made popcorn and sparkling water, students raised $102 in a week, to benefit families in need this Christmas season. Ogema Paypompee, a CICE student at the Lake of the Woods Campus, made the presentation on air during a live radio broadcast of the event by 89.5 The Lake Mix FM on Friday morning. Ogema is also well known to the Salvation Army’s Thrift store staff, as she has been completing a CICE placement at the store since the beginning of this semester. Ogema is developing her customer service skills, in addition to providing much needed support to staff, during one of their busiest times of the year.
