In keeping with our commitment to building an inclusive school that empowers everyone to have the confidence to succeed, Confederation College has made menstrual products available in our washrooms, free of charge. Menstrual product dispensers have been adjusted to not require payment.

A survey conducted by Plan International Canada showed 63 percent of people who menstruate have regularly or occasionally missed an activity because of their period and concerns about not being able to access menstrual hygiene products or proper facilities. The report also noted that 34 percent of people who menstruate have had to sacrifice regularly or occasionally something else within their budget to afford menstrual products.

Confederation College is dedicated to expanding our efforts in sustainability including social and economical sustainability. In the Spring of 2021, Confederation College signed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Accord, the postsecondary sector’s collective response to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the United Nations. These 17 goals include the 4 which in part are addressed by opening access to menstrual products.
