Our Year 2 & 3 Dental Hygiene students were very busy during the month of November delivering valuable oral health educational sessions and clinics to eight different community groups.

These oral health promotion projects involved our Dental Hygiene students developing partnerships with many agencies and stakeholders in our community. The main objective of these projects was to provide participant specific oral health educational and clinical sessions to help address the oral health disparities of each of these community groups.

A big thank you to the following stakeholders, for the generous donation of their time and expertise and contributing to the success of our students community health care educational journey.

Debbie Ward (NorWest Community Health Centres), Todd Kennedy (March of Dimes), Meghan Maunula (Our Kids Count), Leema Farha (Thunder Bay Multicultural Association), Ms. Basaraba and Ms. Calabrese (Thunder Bay District Catholic School Board), Rob McQueen (Jasper Place), and Lynda McKeown (Assisted Living Oral Health Advisor).

The students are also very grateful to Joris Stasiewicz, Henry Schein Canada, for the generous donation of oral health care supplies (brushes, floss, toothpaste, interdental tools, and denture brushes) which were welcomed and greatly appreciated by all participants.
