Academic Showcase: Ontario Extend Program and Adaptive Learning

Description: This session will be led by eCampusOntario which will discuss two initiatives they have currently been promoting.
Ontario Extend Program - This is a micro-credentialed professional learning program grounded in the belief that the impact of learning should be the primary motivator for creating technology-enabled and online learning experiences. The program is offered free of charge to Ontario educators and provides the opportunity to earn six badges leading to an Empowered Educator certificate. (30 minutes)
Adaptive Learning - Over the past fiscal year, we have completed an environmental scan on the use of adaptive learning in Ontario. This scan builds on previous pilot studies that saw the development of adaptive learning resources for the trades and communications disciplines at eight Ontario colleges. Moving forward, the work will continue this fiscal year with the development of an adaptive learning training module for educators that will lead to additional pilot studies. We will discuss our findings and the upcoming work with your faculty and engage them in a conversation around where they see potential for such technologies in their practice. (30 minutes)
