New Program Development (NPD)

New programs are developed to meet student, community, and labour market needs, while also aligning with the strategic direction of the College as outlined in the Strategic Plan, Strategic Mandate Agreement, Academic Plan, Strategic Enrolment Management Plan and government initiatives.

New Program Development (NPD) is a structured and collaborative process that prioritizes quality, sustainability, and long-term student success at its core. The Academic Quality Assurance Team works closely with the New Program Development Team to:

  • Develop the New Program Development (NPD) proposal
  • Conduct program demand analysis
  • Ensure alignment with the Ontario Qualifications Framework (OQF) and Ministry standards
  • Apply titling protocols
  • Design the program of study and complete program mapping
  • Coordinate documentation and resource planning
  • Facilitate internal approval through Academic Council (AC)
  • Manage external approvals via Credential Validation Services (CVS) and the Program Funding Approval and Administration Module (PFAAM)

This comprehensive approach ensures that new programs meet all regulatory requirements while reflecting the College’s strategic priorities and responding to the changing needs of students and the broader community.
