Library Accessibility Services

This is a special assistive service provided for students. These services may include retrieving materials, providing physical assistance with copiers, computers, and other library equipment.

Who Qualifies?

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (A.D.H.D.)
  • Blind and low vision
  • Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing
  • Learning Disabilities 
  • Medical Disabilities
  • Mental health disabilities
  • Mild acquired brain injury
  • Physical disability or mobility impairment

How to Qualify?​

Services

ACE Portal

  • The ACE Portal gives students with an Accommodation Plan access to library books in accessible formats.

Assistive devices

  • There is a catalogue station designated for wheelchair access with a sizable screen and large print.

Book/Journal retrieval

  • Library staff will retrieve books or journals from Library shelves for you.

Browsing assistance

  • Staff will assist you in browsing Library shelves, including reading titles or lifting books.

Catalogue Assistance

  • Library staff will assist you in using the online Library catalogue, the Library website, or any electronic resources.

Extended Loan Services

  • Students with an Accommodation Plan have the option of requesting an extended loan period for some books.  You can renew your book by phone, email or in person.  To make a request for an extended loan, send an email to: [email protected].

Photocopying

  • Library staff will assist you in using copy machines.
