Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan (IRAP)

This Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan (IRAP) reflects our unwavering commitment to action, transparency, and meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communities. More than just a plan, it is a promise-to create an educational environment that is inclusive, respectful, and self-determining for all.

We recognize and honour the leadership, dedication, and advocacy of past and present employees, Indigenous leaders, and the Decolonization Committee, whose efforts have laid the foundation for this work. Their contributions have shaped the path we walk today, and this IRAP represents the next step forward-building on their progress to further reconciliation and systemic change.

Our commitments will evolve as we achieve our goals. In some areas, progress is already underway, while in others, timelines will shift as we implement meaningful steps forward. Feedback will be an ongoing and essential part of this process. We are committed to continually reviewing, improving, and sharing our progress as we move forward on this journey.

We invite our entire college community-students, employees and partners-to join us in this critical work of reconciliation. Together, we will honour Indigenous perspectives, foster understanding, and create lasting change.

Board of Governors message

The Confederation College Board of Governors affirms our full support for the Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan (IRAP) and the College’s enduring commitment to truth, reconciliation, and systemic change in post-secondary education.

In alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and our Negahneewin Vision, the IRAP represents a bold, necessary step in embedding Indigenous leadership, knowledge, and practices throughout the College. This work is central to our mission and values and will remain a priority long after our next strategic plan and current Board membership have ended.

Reconciliation is a shared responsibility that requires ongoing reflection, accountability, and a long-term commitment from the board, senior team, and employees. While the College’s actions will evolve over time, the six pillars of the IRAP—Leadership and Governance, People, Academics, Community Engagement, Social Accountability and Advocacy, and Sustainability—will continue to guide our efforts and provide a lasting framework for institutional change.

We remain steadfast in our oversight role and are dedicated to ensuring that the principles and actions outlined in the IRAP guide the College’s journey now and into the future.
