Today, our College community gathered at Anwebiiwining Outdoor Classroom to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – Orange Shirt Day.

The ceremony included blessings from Elder Melissa Roberts, reflections from SUCCI President Kai Fucile-Ladouceur, and remarks from President Michelle Salo. Together, we honoured survivors of residential schools, remembered those who never returned home, and reflected on the lasting impact of these institutions.

This morning, the Survivors’ Flag was raised on campus. After the ceremony, cedar trees were planted at Anwebiiwining as living symbols of resilience, remembrance, and our ongoing commitment to reconciliation.

Students and employees came together to learn, reflect, and share in community. Traditional refreshments followed, providing an opportunity for conversation and connection.

We thank everyone who joined us and invite our entire College community to continue carrying the spirit of reconciliation forward in our classrooms, our work, and our relationships.
