About the NPTI Bridge
The Nursing Program Transformation Initiative (NPTI) is a province-wide online bridge designed for Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) who want to pursue advanced standing in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program.
The pathway prepares RPNs for entry into year 3 of a BScN program through standardized online courses. The bridge is flexible and accessible, with online delivery, 24/7 access to course materials, and support from facilitators.

- Want to complete required bridge courses online and then apply to Confederation’s BScN program for advanced entry.
How the Pathway Works
- Register for NPTI Bridge Courses
Bridge courses are delivered online via OntarioLearn and typically take about 6 months to complete. These prepare students for transition into year 3 of the BScN program (year 3 itself is delivered on-campus). - Complete the Required Bridge Courses
The bridge curriculum prepares you academically for transition into year 3 of a BScN program. - Apply to Confederation’s BScN (Advanced Entry)
Once the bridge is complete and admission requirements are met, students may apply for advanced entry into the BScN program. - Transition to On-Campus Study
Successful applicants join Confederation’s BScN program in Thunder Bay at an advanced level. Clinical placements and simulation-based learning begin immediately.

Admission Overview
Applicants must:
- Have graduated from a recognized Practical Nursing program.
- Have a GPA above 65%.
- Be a registered practical nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Complete the approved NPTI bridge courses.
- Meet Confederation College’s academic requirements.
- Work as an RPN in casual or part-time capacity.
- Submit an application to the Honours BScN program through the standard application process.
