Confederation College recently sent a delegation of Students and Faculty to Toronto for the Annual “Skills Ontario” Competition (May 1-3, 2023). Skills Ontario hosts a variety of competitions for High Schools and Colleges (including Apprentices) to showcase talent in many trades and technology sectors.

All represented Confederation College very well both in a variety of areas, both in terms of competitive demonstration events and also marketing the College's Trades and Technology programs.

Special mention must be made of our Aviation Technician, Aircraft Maintenance program (also known as the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer- AME  program). Two Confederation students competed: Ainsley Carr and Avienda Wiebe, and both did extremely well competing against students from across Ontario. Avieda won a bronze medal in the Aircraft Maintenance Competition. Students had to demonstrate competencies in engine work, composite inspection, electrical fabrication and troubleshooting, safety lockwire, aircraft aluminum sheet and metal fabrication. Each task was graded by industry judges.

We think everyone who went found the experience fun and rewarding. For our students participation definitely looks nice on their resumes!
