Students examine the fundamental processes, roles and responsibilities of the business analyst. The course curriculum is consistent with version 3 of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) from the IIBA International Institute of Business Analysis. Students explore the use of tools and techniques used by business analysts within the broader context of organizations and their projects. They review methodologies used to equip the business analyst to better perform as a communication link between all business stakeholders and help them deliver on their key role in project and organizational success. The role of the business analyst as an agent of change is also highlighted. Students learn to plan, structure, and control the requirements elicitation and communication process, in order to maximize success and optimize results. These techniques can be utilized on a wide variety of activities, initiatives and projects and are an important component for success. Additionally studies include the effective use of requirements and life cycle management techniques. Through the combination of lectures, discussions and exercises, the course provides insights into the interaction between the business analyst and his or her surrounding environment and presents methodologies to identify, analyze and resolve business problems. This course will introduce key marketing concepts related to the promotions mix in an IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications) framework. Students will be introduced to the foundation of IMC and communication concepts specifically as they relate to influencing consumer behaviour. This course focuses on advertising as part of the promotional mix and explores creative approaches and media alternatives, including the internet and social media options, needed to prepare and justify different marketing communication approaches to create brand interest and ultimately brand loyalty. Business writing requires the use of simple words and concise sentences. Throughout the course, students will practice clear and concise writing skills by crafting common business reports. Assignments include creating business letters, memos, briefing notes, and proposals. Students will require a firm mastery of the English language and proficient writing skills. This course will present, in detail, the principles of quality functions and how to select and implement those that are appropriate. Emphasis will be on the theory of self-control, motivation for quality and cost of quality, quality audit, vendor relations, customer relations, measurement control, control of non-conforming materials and corrective actions. The control of variables will be related to management, operator and the system dominant concepts.
The student will be introduced to the computerization of statistical process control functions such as histograms, control charts and data collection. This course uses spreadsheets, word processing and other quality assurance related software to demonstrate how computers can be used to effectively manage a quality system. The course examines both the theoretical and applied aspects of the compensation function, with special consideration of the major factors that influence the actual design of a compensation system.
This course provides an introduction to quality assurance and control programs within a business organization. Topics include the nature and history of quality, factors which affect quality, quality inspection, and verification. The course will also deal with collection, analysis, and interpretation of data, histograms and frequency distributions, probability and its applications, normal and binomial curves, control charts for variables and attributes and statistical sampling.
Develop an understanding of archival theory and practice. Focus on the nature of archival documents, the relationship between archives and records management, acquisition and appraisal, arrangement and description, reference services, preventative conservation and facility planning and security.
In this course, students will take a comprehensive look at children’s wellness in a child care setting. The course content will address health, safety and nutrition practices. Strategies for maintaining a healthy and safe child care environment will be presented. Accessories, behaviours and conditions for safety risk in both indoor and outdoor environments will be examined. Emphasis will be placed on healthy nutrition and activity for children.
Child and youth abuse identification and intervention are viewed as the responsibility of every individual. Abuse of children often occurs within the larger system of family violence. Impact of socialization and prevention programs will be examined as pertinent social issues. Assessment, treatment and prevention techniques and programs will be examined including conflict resolution skills.

Emphasis is placed on the educator’s role in planning for individual needs, while supporting the needs of the entire group in an inclusive environment. The focus is on using a team approach, with active family involvement to support the child with special needs in inclusive educational settings.
Emphasis is on the study of signs and symptoms of the major mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder, major depression, schizophrenia and personality disorders. Additionally, there are discussions about eating and sleeping disorders, stress and post-traumatic stress disorder.
