This course focuses on applying knowledge gained in the area of wills and estates law to the production of forms and documentation according to the rules, regulations, and procedures in that field. Students practice managing a legal administrator’s workload by completing series of tasks to the professional standards required in a dynamic legal environment. Each activity evaluates students’ ability to solve problems using critical, analytical skills while also observing governing standards particular to the law industry. This course examines the role of a legal administrator in relation to wills and estates law proceedings in support of the legal team. Students identify the components of forms used in each field, including, but not limited to, Powers of Attorney and wills. Emphasis is placed on Ontario legislation governing the administration of estates. Students are also expected to determine the appropriate uses of client information based on techniques learned in the course and knowledge gained about the fields. This course is designed to assist students in working effectively with families. Early Childhood Educators recognize the valuable input families contribute to the child care centre. The dual role of families – as a resource and client will be examined. In addition the role of child care as a resource and support system to families will be identified.

Elements of a successful fundraising campaign are examined. Students learn how to develop a compelling case for support, attract the best leadership potential, train volunteers, develop donor prospects and prepare a plan of action. Students also learn the importance of pre-planning and gain knowledge of feasibility studies. Management and financial strategies to effectively control the fundraising process of campaigns are explored. Practical implementation of fundraising strategies required to manage information generated during a campaign, such as processing gifts and dealing with information flow and technology are addressed. Explore components of interpersonal communication through listening skills, perception checking dealing with conflict and understanding verbal/non-verbal messages. Personality inventories will be implemented to understand the development of self-concept. Task analysis will be explored to assist in analyzing situations to develop appropriate responses and interventions.
This course focuses on the communication skills required by the food service worker. General principles of human communication such as verbal interaction and listening are explored. Students will learn effective communication skills with patients, residents, co-workers and supervisors. Students will also have the opportunity to develop writing skills and presentation skills with a major emphasis on documenting and charting food intake measuring techniques, communication of therapeutic diets and nutrition support required for treatment. Topics covered include: writing clear reports and documentation, making effective presentations, and fostering interpersonal skills. In today’s rapidly evolving and ever-changing world, it is critical now more than ever for businesses to continue to develop and innovate as quickly and efficiently as possible. Through this course, students will learn how to manage people, money and information, and gain insight into the professional management style. In addition, the process of management will be discussed as well as evolving business ethics, sustainability and lean management skills. Skills gained in this course will enable the students to identify, create, and implement a plan to meet specific business needs.
This course is meant to be a first introduction to the French language. The course aims to develop competencies in French through authentic learning tasks in preparation for real-life application. Online activities will promote skill development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in personal and professional contexts. You will use communication strategies to support interpersonal skills, to convey information, and to explain and respond to messages in familiar situations. You will develop skills for life-long learning that are transferable to employment. The targeted second language proficiency of the course aligns with level 2 requirements of the Canadian Language Benchmarks for French, the NCLC.
