Selection Statistics

Some programs at Confederation College are competitive and receive more qualified applications than available seats. For these programs, admission decisions are based on selection criteria and selection scores, not just minimum requirements.

This page explains how selection works and what recent cut-off scores can tell you.

What Are Selection Statistics?

Selection statistics show the range of scores that received offers in recent years for competitive programs.

These scores are based on grades from the required admission courses listed on each program page.
They can change every year depending on:

  • Number of applicants
  • Applicant grades
  • Number of available seats

Selection statistics are not guarantees, but they help you understand how competitive a program may be.

Programs That Use Selection Criteria

Selection is typically used for programs such as:

This list may change from year to year depending on demand.

How Selection Works

Equal Consideration

  • Applications received by February 1 (Fall) are given equal consideration.
  • Applicants must have completed, or be registered in, all required courses by this date.

If you apply after the equal consideration deadline, your application is reviewed only if seats remain.

Selection Scores

Selection scores are calculated using:

  • Grades from required admission courses listed on the program page
  • In some cases, additional senior academic courses

For health programs, only the required courses are used to calculate selection scores.

If a required course is still in progress, midterm grades may be used.
Failing midterm grades are not used to lower your score, but final requirements must still be met.

Mature Student Selection

Mature applicants (19 years of age or older without an OSSD) are considered based on:

All program-specific requirements must still be met.

Bonus Points for Postsecondary Education

Additional selection points may be awarded if you have completed postsecondary studies.

Completed Credentials

  • Degree or diploma in a related field (GPA 3.0 or higher): +4 points
  • Certificate in a related field (GPA 3.0 or higher): +3 points
  • Credential in a non-related field (GPA 3.0 or higher): +1 point

Completed Postsecondary Courses

  • Minimum of five courses or three full university credits in a related discipline (GPA 3.0 or higher): +2 points

Specialist High Skills Major and Dual Credit courses do not provide bonus points for admission decisions.

Viewing Selection Statistics

You can view recent selection score ranges for oversubscribed programs on this page:

Statistics typically show:

  • Highest score offered
  • Lowest score offered
  • Number of applicants
  • Number of available seats

All data reflects the first round of offers following the equal consideration deadline.

Important Notes

  • Selection scores change every year.
  • Meeting the minimum admission requirement does not guarantee an offer.
  • You may receive more than one offer, but you can only accept one program at one college.
  • Confirming a seat in one program does not remove you from waitlists for other programs.
