Transfers & Re-Admission

What this is?

This application can only be used if you were registered in a post-secondary program at Confederation College and are applying to return to the same program into semester two or beyond.

Readmission after a leave from program is defined as re-entering a full-time postsecondary program into Semester 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 following an absence from the same program. Students would have met the admission requirements and successfully completed semester 1. Readmission is not guaranteed.

If you left due to academic performance

Students who left the program due to academic performance must follow the continuation rules identified in Confederation College’s grading policy (5-1-01-5)(opens in new window).

Program completion time limits (based on your original program start date)

Students are expected to complete their program within the following time limits:

• One year program — up to three years
• Two year program — up to five years
• Three year program — up to six years
• Part time postsecondary/continuing education programs — five years

Before you apply

Students are encouraged to book an appointment with a Student Success Advisor (SSA) prior to applying for Re-admission.

Procedure

Student completes the “Application for Readmission Form AR-1” and submits the form, with a $30.00 non-refundable application fee, to The Information Hub.

Equal consideration and decision timeline

All applications received by April 15th for Fall start and November 15th for Winter start will be reviewed and ranked at the same time.

Students will receive an offer for their readmission no later than three weeks prior to the start of the semester. Additional offers for readmission will be extended up to the final date for registration until the program maximum is reached. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified.

Tuition

All applicable tuition fees are due at the time of registration (see Tuition Fee Details).

Program changes may affect your return

Students re-entering a program may be required to take additional courses due to changes in program completion requirements.

How readmission applications are ranked?

Applications for readmission will be ranked using the following criteria:

• Program Grade Point Average at the point of program departure before the equal consideration dates noted above.
• After the equal consideration dates, applications will be ranked on a first come first serve basis.

What this is?

Campus Transfer is defined as continuing in a full-time postsecondary program into Semester 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 from the same program to another Confederation College campus location. Students would have met the admission requirements and successfully completed Semester 1.

A Campus Transfer is not guaranteed and is based on seat availability at the requested campus location.

Procedure

Student completes and submits the “Application for Campus Transfer Form AR-2”.

All applications received on or before April 15th for Fall start and on or before November 15th for Winter start will be reviewed and ranked for equal consideration. The Academic Support Officer for the program will be contacted to review available seat counts at the requested campus location.

Offers and decision timeline

Students will receive an offer for their campus transfer no later than three weeks prior to the start of the semester. Additional offers for campus transfers will be extended up to the final date for registration until the program maximum is reached. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified.

How campus transfer applications are ranked?

Applications will be ranked using the following criteria:

• Program Grade Point Average based on last full semester/s taken, or when GPA is not available the application will be ranked according to their OCAS entrance score before the equal consideration dates noted above.
• After the equal consideration dates, applications will be ranked on a first come first serve basis.

What this is?

This application can only be used if you are registered in a postsecondary program at another ministry approved college and are applying to transfer to the same program at Confederation College.

An Institution Transfer is defined as entering a full-time postsecondary program into Semester 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 from a different Ministry approved institution in the same program. Students must meet Confederation College admission requirements and successfully have completed semester 1 from previous institution. An Institution Transfer is not guaranteed.

Program completion time limits (based on your original program start date)

Students are expected to complete their program within the following time limits:

• One year program — up to three years
• Two year program — up to five years
• Three year program — up to six years
• Part time postsecondary/continuing education programs — five years

Required documents (must be provided)

Students must provide:

• A complete course syllabus for each program taken at the previous institution
• An official transcript
• A high school transcript may be requested for admission purposes

Transfer credit process (required)

Program review and semester entry decision

All Institution Transfers will be reviewed by the Program Coordinator to decide what semester of entry will be approved.

Students transferring from another institution may be required to take additional courses due to differences in individual college program curriculum.

What a program change is?

Application to switch programs with a common first year is defined as re-entering a full-time postsecondary program into Semester 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 between programs that share common curriculum.

Applicants would have met the admission requirements and successfully completed Semester 1.

Program change is not guaranteed.
