Education has changed my life forever for the better and Confederation College made a major transformation in my life. I developed the skills of discipline, strategy. It was not easy, but with the tremendous support and encouragement I received from the staff and my classmates I completed the program and graduated.
My Most Positive Experience or Memory of Confederation College
My most positive experience was that I was able to look into my own Indigenous culture through another lens. If I was taught sooner about the indigenous history and residential school, life would made sense a lot sooner. Confederation College taught me things I never knew about me and my culture.
My Job & Job Responsibilities (brief description)
I fly into remote northern communities and go into the schools and local radio stations to talk about awareness about mental health and whatever is requested (suicide, bullying, etc.) I wear many hats in my job with the lack of resources in the communities I do one-on-one counselling with the students, adults, and leaders.
What Brings Me the Greatest Satisfaction From My Job
Making a difference in someone's life, even if it's just one person in one visit.
How Confederation College Has Prepared Me for Work in the Field?
Confederation College challenged me to the core. I didn't get any favours, or get-out-of-jail free cards. If I was late for an exam and I failed by 3% because of it, I had to redo an entire course. They really sure prepared me.
My Advice for Someone Considering this Program or Career Path
Learn to take it one-day-at-a-time. You're not going to save the entire world and maintain your self-care. It is very important in this field you can become easily lost if you don't take care of yourself.
The Most Sought-After Qualifications & Talents That Employers are Currently Seeking in this Field of Work

My Personal Success Highlights
All my life I struggled as a single mother, living from one unfit home to another, with low paying jobs. After I decided to go back to school everything changed. I now work out my own private office and carry my own business cards. I have everything I have ever wanted for me and my children.
