Confederation College changed my life by giving me a lot of new experiences and new friends. The main way it changed my life is by opening my eyes to the history of Canada and the legacies that it left on Canada's Indigenous people.
My Most Positive Experience & Fond Memory of Confederation College
I have a lot of fond memories, but my favourite are around the planning and execution of the round dance that we put on for the community. It was such a fun time and it was awesome watching the combined efforts of the team all coming together when it came time to host the event. It was also a reminder of what else we can accomplish together.

My responsibilities as a Health Transformation Assistant are office duties, entering data, note-taking, community engagement, and summarizing events.
What Brings Me the Greatest Satisfaction From My Job
My greatest satisfaction is knowing that everything the NAN Health Transformation does is to make the lives better for the people across NAN that don't have access to the same level of health care that most Canadians can easily access.
How Confederation College Has Prepared Me for Work in the Field?
I honestly feel like not a lot has changed in the transition from college to work. A lot of the stuff that we've done in our classes are the same things I do in the office. I feel the college and the types of things I've learned has very much prepared me for this position.
My Advice for Someone Considering this Program or Career Path
The type of work we do isn't always easy, especially with the history of Indigenous people in this country. Just be prepared, know what to expect and know that it's necessary and its all worthwhile.

I think the most sought after qualifications that employers in this field are after are the ability to work as a team, to be empathetic and to be willing to learn.

There are many jobs available for people who have completed this program. There are different types of places looking for different types of people. It just depends what you're interested in and what kind of skills you are best at.
My Personal Success Highlights
I am most proud of being able to contribute to the work that NAN does, whether its in the office, or when we visit communities, to hear the stories, to listen and incorporate it into the work. I want to be a part of a bigger picture that will eventually make life better for everybody, First Nation or not.
