The Social Service Worker program at Confederation College exceeded my expectations. As a mature student entering the program, I found that the education, faculty, and hands-on placements provided me with the skills, knowledge, and real-world experience needed to feel confident and prepared entering the field. I'm graduating with a strong foundation in social service work, and the program has inspired me to continue into Social Work through the bridging program.
The SSW program challenges you academically while also encouraging reflection, self-awareness, and personal growth, which are essential for entering this field. One of the program's biggest strengths is the placement experience. It gives you valuable hands-on learning while also creating connections within the community and field. There is a high possibility of gaining employment through placement, and there is no shortage of opportunities for Social Service Workers after graduation. I was offered a position through my very first placement before I had even finished the program.
I would absolutely recommend the SSW program to anyone considering a career in social services or wanting to make a meaningful impact in their community.
