Early Passion for Aviation
I was always interested in flying when I was younger—maybe five or six years old. My dad would take me to the Edenvale Aerodrome where we’d watch planes. One day, a pilot took me up in a Piper Cherokee. I was too short to see over the dash, but I got to fly a little over Wasaga Beach, and that moment stuck with me—I wanted to fly ever since.
Learning Environment
The college environment is incredible. You walk in and see planes hanging from the ceiling, aircraft in the hangar, and you’re right on the airport. Between classes, you watch planes take off and land—it’s as close as you can get to aviation in training.
Hands-On Experience
There are very few fields where you can do both academic and hands-on training at the same time. You go to class in the morning, and then a few hours later, you’re flying a plane and applying exactly what you just learned. It’s an amazing experience.
Quality Training
The simulators are excellent, and the staff know how to use them effectively. Going from zero aviation background to becoming a commercial pilot involves a lot of training, and the program prepares you well for that journey.
Why I Chose Confederation College
Two things really stood out: affordability and reputation. The program is heavily subsidized, making it much more accessible. The reputation is also strong—being a Confed graduate carries real weight in the industry.

From day one, we were told the people around us would become our colleagues—and that proved true. Many of my classmates had jobs lined up before graduating. It’s almost impossible to go to an airport and not meet someone from Confed. It really feels like a big family.
