How Confederation College Has Changed My life
Confederation College started something amazing for me. It gave me the chance to pursue further education and not long after graduating, I was accepted into Brandon University and studied psychology. I graduated with my 3-year Bachelor of Science and next year I will be writing a thesis to finish my 4-year Bachelor of Science with honours. I hope to continue my education at the Master's level as well.
I also just received a position in my dream job with the amazing organization, Sexuality Education Resource Center in Brandon, MB.
Without my diploma from Confederation College, none of this would have been possible.
My Most Positive Memory of Confederation College
Although the program I took was through Distance Education, the group of students and instructors were amazing. It was easier to get through the online classes and we were able to chat outside of class and help each other with anything we were struggling with.
My Recollection of a Teacher Who Made a Difference
My teachers were all amazing, my favourite was my professor for Biology, Joan Dykes. She always made the class entertaining and was accommodating for assignments and exams.
My Job & Job Responsibilities
I am just starting at the Sexuality Education Resource Center in Brandon. My job is to educate youth in a school setting on sexuality and reproductive health, covering a variety of topics from consent, to puberty, to sex-positivity.

Making a difference in the lives of youth, sexual health education is so incredibly important on so many levels.

Confederation College was my first experience at presenting my work to others. This is a skill I have developed further through school and work and has been very valuable.

This program is a great start if you did not know what you wanted to do in high school. It opens up so many doors and possibilities and builds skills that can be used in a job, or in other education.

My Sense of the Current Job Market Conditions in my Field of Work
I think the area of health overall is growing. There is more and more awareness of the importance of health. Society is becoming more open and accepting as well, and we are seeing areas of health such as sexual health become less taboo.
My Personal Success Highlights
- I graduated with my 3-year Bachelor of Science in 2020 and returned to complete my 4-year degree with honours.
- I volunteer as a crisis responder for Kids Help Phone.
- I am training to become a doula and had my first client during the pandemic. It was amazing.
- Throughout all of my successes, I have also raised two amazing children!
