My insight, or words of advice regarding this program

The Paramedic Program is a high-intensity, high-volume program which requires the strictest of discipline and highest of attention from students. In order to be successful in this environment, it is strongly recommended that student's limit their extracurricular activities i.e., part-time employment to a minimum. Develop good study habits early in the program, and join a like-minded group of paramedic students to work towards success. Students often find the physical requirements of the paramedic program to be challenging. Starting the paramedic program with good cardio fitness and physical strength will reap great rewards as students progress through the program. Students who are successful in the program, historically are focused, driven and team-players.

My insight, or words of advice regarding career opportunities in this field of study

Graduates will be entering a job-rich employment market. With expansion of paramedic services, promotions, and retirements, there are any paramedic jobs to be filled.

How/Why I Become a Teacher

I am a life-long paramedic who is extremely passionate about the profession. I have had many teachers and mentors throughout my career who have helped to shape my paramedic practice. I want to pass on what I have learned to the next generation of paramedics.

What I Like Most About Teaching

I most enjoy being part of a student's growth and journey towards becoming a paramedic. It is truly rewarding being part of that process. To see paramedic students develop critical thinking skills and learn to save lives while operating in time sensitive and high pressure situations is incredible. Knowing that the paramedic faculty and I are building elite, life-saving paramedics is an outstanding experience.

My Relevant Experience in the Field

I have extensive experience in the stabilization and evacuation of critically ill and injured patients in all environments. I have transported over 12 000 patients during my time as a paramedic. I have not only been a team member but also a team leader. I am familiar with EMS airborne and tactical EMS operations.

My Hobbies & Other Interests

Spending time with my wife and adult children.

The only profession activity I enjoy more than responding to 911 emergency calls is training paramedic students.
