In engineering design work, differential equations are used to model most kinds of non-chaotic dynamic (changing) systems, such as process control systems, mechanical devices, hydraulics and building structures. MA531 emphasizes the concepts of analytical approaches to solutions of ordinary differential equations. Topics covered include Maclaurin, Taylor and Fourier series, as well as the application of Laplace transforms for differential equations, systems of differential equations and engineering problems.
