Automation Control Systems I
This course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills required to analyze, design, install, and troubleshoot industrial motor control and automation systems. Emphasis is placed on interpreting and producing electrical schematics and relay ladder logic, selecting and applying control devices, and verifying circuit operation using appropriate test equipment. Students develop competencies in designing and commissioning motor control circuits, including start/stop, sequencing, interlocking, and timing applications. The course also introduces programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including hardware configuration, wiring, and ladder logic programming for automated systems. Additionally, students explore discrete instrumentation and sensing devices and their integration within control systems. Through a combination of theory and hands-on applications, students gain the skills necessary to implement, test, and maintain modern industrial control systems in accordance with industry standards and codes.
