Role & Responsibilities

Sophie is a Course Instructor at Confederation College, teaching within the Community Integration through Co-Operative Education (CICE) and Aviation Flight Management programs. She also serves as an Integration Facilitator, providing individualized and group support to CICE students and helping students navigate college life, develop academic and personal skills, and achieve their learning objectives.

Professional Background

Sophie holds a Master of Adult Education from Yorkville University, an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Criminology with a minor in Psychology from Western University, and a Diploma in Recreation Therapy from Confederation College. Her professional background includes post-secondary instruction and student support, field placement coordination, community-based research, and occupational instruction. Her areas of experience include adult education, experiential and student-centred learning, learner assessment, cultural awareness, student engagement, mental health and addictions, and individualized instruction.

Teaching

Sophie has teaching experience in both the CICE and Aviation Flight Management programs at Confederation College. She teaches Transition to College, supporting students in accessing college services, advocating for themselves, and developing skills for a successful transition to college life. She also teaches Navigating Healthy Lifestyles, covering topics such as nutrition, meal planning, fitness, healthy relationships, mental health, and substance use. Within the Aviation Flight Management program, she teaches Health and Wellness for Aviation, focusing on physical activity, wellness, and fitness. Her teaching experience also includes individualized instruction, group learning, lesson planning, and adapting course content to support diverse learning needs.
