Prof. Scott Hobbs

Role & Responsibilities

Scott Hobbs is the Coordinator, Media & Storytelling at Confederation College, where his responsibilities include media relations, external corporate communications and content development that highlight the College’s impact across northwestern Ontario.

Professional Background

An award-winning filmmaker and professional photographer, Scott’s work has been featured in dozens of publications, including Maclean’s and The Walleye, as well as across local, regional, national and international media, on billboards, websites and television.

He co-owned a freelance multimedia company for seven years, producing written and visual content for dozens of organizations, businesses, charities and community groups.

Creative Work & Experience

Scott and his camera have travelled across three continents and counting, capturing stories that connect people and place.

Teaching

He also serves as part-time faculty in the College’s Film Production program, sharing his experience and passion for visual storytelling with the next generation of creators.

Community Involvement

Scott is Vice President of the Magnus Theatre Board of Directors and a board member of the Northwestern Ontario Recreational Trails Association (NWORTA) and the Waterfront Trails Rotary Committee Action Team (WTRCAT).
