I have lived in Northwestern Ontario all my life. I’m originally from Fort Frances, have lived in Thunder Bay, and am now living in Geraldton, Ontario. I love the beauty of our area and everything it has to offer!

How/Why I Became a Teacher

I come from a long line of teachers and teaching has always been something I have been drawn to, even as a child. I love to learn and sharing my love of learning is important to me as a teacher.

What I Like Most About Teaching

I love being able to help students set and achieve their goals. Seeing my students succeed is one of the greatest rewards of teaching.

  • Master of Education, Charles Sturt University
  • Bachelor of Education, Lakehead University
  • Honours Bachelor of Commerce, Lakehead University (Major in Human Resources & Minor in Marketing)

I completed multiple Additional Qualifications courses as a teacher including a Reading Specialist, Business Studies, and French as a Second Language

I have participated in action research in the classroom in Math and Literacy that has been recognized in Academic Journals and conferences through the International Mind, Brain, and Education Society

My Relevant Experience in the Field

I started teaching in 2008 and spent over a decade teaching in the elementary system. I taught at all grade levels K – 8, including French and Instrumental Music. Being a teacher researcher was an exciting part of my job in the Kindergarten classroom where I got to learn about best practices in teaching alongside some amazing researchers. I taught at Confederation College on a part-time and sessional basis in the Human Resources and Educational Assistant programs before starting in the Academic Upgrading department. I have loved my time working with mature learners and being a part of this great team!
