Prof. Erin Oner

Role & Responsibilities

Erin Oner is the Coordinator/Professor of the Business Fundamentals and Business Program(s) at Confederation College. Erin spent over 12 years as the Coordinator of the Business Marketing Program and worked on redesigning the curriculum and course content in that program before moving into her current role in the Business Program. Erin holds an MBA and a Bachelor's Degree in International Business Management and is also an Alumni of Confederation College and completed the 3 year International Business Management Diploma program.

Professional Background

Prior to her role with Confederation College, Erin spent ten years first studying and then working in Sydney Australia as part of Baxter Healthcare Australia’s Healthcare Solutions Team in strategic business development.

Erin was later promoted to National Account Manager at Baxter for Australia’s largest private hospital group and worked on the development and VIP rebate programs within the private healthcare sector for several years before heading back home to Canada .

Cultural awareness born of language study and immersion in Mexico, South America, Turkey and Australia are a positive resource that Erin uses daily, in her role as a Coordinator and in the classroom.

Small business and entrepreneurship are an area of passion for Erin and she advocates it to her students within her program. Erin owned and operated her own small home business, as well as growing up in a family business and loves her role as a business teacher in Northern Ontario.

Teaching

Erin is enthusiastic about sharing her experiences and loves making it a priority to bring real life experiential learning opportunities into her classroom, allowing her students to work with potential future employers wherever possible.

Creative Work, Research, or Industry Experience

Erin has had the opportunity to be involved as a faculty in teaching a wide variety of marketing courses, operations management, professional selling, entrepreneurship, international business, supply change management and negotiations, as well as many other exciting courses in her time at the college.
