Role & Responsibilities

Brett Sharman teaches various courses across Confederation College’s business programs and has been a full-time professor since 2014.

Professional Background

An academic and experienced practitioner with 25+ years of experience in marketing, managerial and educational roles, Brett has worked in a variety of organizational settings, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational corporations and higher education institutions. Born and raised in Australia (and partly in New Zealand), Brett relocated to Canada in 2012.

Teaching

Brett started teaching in 2012 and has since developed a fun, interactive and award-winning approach, receiving the college's Innovation in Teaching Award in 2020 and the Board of Governor's Award of Excellence in 2023. Brett teaches in a range of business areas and is passionate about promoting ethical, responsible and sustainable approaches to business.

Research

Brett is currently undertaking a PhD in management to explore how collective action can be intentionally designed and responsibly managed within business organizations. The aim of his research is to enhance the cooperative capacity of businesses, for their own benefit and that of the common good.
