Things got a little spooky, a little strange and a whole lot more colourful at Confederation College this Halloween, as employees transformed their workspaces into elaborate themed experiences for the College's annual departmental decorating competition.

What started as some friendly competition has become a much-anticipated tradition, with departments going all out to claim bragging rights and show off their creativity.

This year's themes certainly didn't disappoint. Employees brought the glitz and glamour of a casino to campus, took a sweet trip through Candyland, stepped back in time to a 1950s diner and travelled to a galaxy far, far away with a recreation of the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars.

Even Microsoft 365 got the Halloween treatment, proving that workplace software can be a source of inspiration beyond spreadsheets and emails.

Behind the costumes, decorations and friendly rivalries, there's also a spirit of giving. Employees use opportunities like Halloween to raise money in support of Stock the Bank, a College tradition that helps students facing financial challenges and food insecurity.

Organized by the Student Union of Confederation College Inc. (SUCCI), Stock the Bank is celebrating its 21st year in 2026. Since launching in 2006, the campaign has raised more than $250,000 and collected over 12,000 non-perishable food items to support students in need.

We are so proud of the work that has been done through the Stock the Bank initiative to support Food Security Initiatives on campus. ConfedScares and The Stock the Bank challenge are exciting ways for our staff to build community and camaraderie while having fun and supporting students. - Raili Tyrvainen, SUCCI President

From creative teamwork to supporting fellow members of the College community, Halloween at Confederation is about much more than costumes and candy.

And judging by this year's decorations, the competition is only getting tougher!
