Land Relationships & Knowledge
Immersed in experiential learning through traditional Anishinaabeg and science classroom teachings, this course introduces the learner to fundamental sustainability concepts, the biomes of the world with a focus on the boreal forest - land of the birch (Wiigwass). Fundamental ecology, forestry concepts and disturbances will also be discussed. Throughout the course, students will construct traditional technologies, tools, and other items of cultural significance utilizing the “gifts” from the boreal forest.
