Professional Practice/IPE

This course will introduce the student to the current ethical and legal issues of professional practice in medical radiation technology. The student will demonstrate knowledge of all legislation affecting the medical radiation technologist, the functions of professional and regulatory organizations, risk management strategies and the Canadian Health Care system. The student will also explore the roles of and interactions with other health care and community services professionals. Students will acquire theoretical knowledge of the imaging modalities of mammography, bone mineral density, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy and ultrasonography. Students will be introduced to related disciplines for the purpose of reviewing data from reports and other previous studies.
