Community Mobilization and Engagement

In this course, students are introduced to the history of community policing and the theory and application of Ontario's Community Mobilization and Engagement Model. Problem-solving methods and alternative dispute resolution strategies will be examined. Students will explore issues relating to community safety and well-being planning; engaging the public; upstream intervention strategies, such as situation tables and crime prevention; and the role of the community in policing. In addition, students will become familiar with strategies and elements of volunteerism.
