Fitness and Defense Tactics I
This course will center on the practical application of bona fide physical and occupational requirements. Students will be required to apply appropriate fitness skills to continue to increase and/or maintain an overall physical fitness level. Students will work towards meeting or achieving occupational fitness standards, including the Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police/Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PREP/PARE) tests. This course will also examine various methods of self defense as well as the well-being of the arrested person(s), including excited delirium and positional asphyxia. Use of force theory, law, and other legal issues related to the use of force will be discussed.
