Indigenous Humour as Resiliency

This course will explore Indigenous Humor as a strengths-based approach to resiliency and healing. Indigenous humour and laughter support our communities since time immemorial. Within Indigenous communities, humour is understood as good medicine for the mind, body and spirit. Literature further supports this notion as laughter is understood to alleviate stress, anger, anxiety, grief, and depression and in turn can lead to an enhanced immune system, lowered blood pressure and reduced stress hormones in the body (Lindquist, 2016). This course will provide Learners with the knowledge and tools necessary to have Mino Bimaadiziwin (The Good Life) utilizing to Indigenous humour as resiliency.
