Globalization International Political Economy

This is a seminar-based course that will focus on the historical and political development of the process of globalization. Learners will become familiar with theories of globalization and the impacts of the global movements of capital, resources, labour and services. The development of institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations and World Trade Organization, and the relationships between them and intra-national corporations will be discussed. There will be a critical analysis of the ecological, political and cultural impacts of globalization, including the displacement of Indigenous groups and dispossession of traditional lands.
