Community Consensus Building

Learners will have the opportunity to experience and practice the consensus-building processes necessary for constructing community decision-making. A review of traditional Indigenous community decision-making models will provide the background for the course. Through case study analysis, role playing and group discussion, learners will gain a strong foundation in the interpersonal and participatory skills necessary to build consensus. Also, they will examine the personal, social economic and political factors that affect group and community behaviour and develop strategies for transcending the barriers which may arise from these dynamics.
