Rural and Remote Development

Learners will have an opportunity to become familiar through case studies and other readings with the unique aspects of rural and remote development, emphasizing the debates around urban growth, infrastructure and technology. A key area of discussion will be northern development, focusing on recent developments in forestry and other resource-based industries and the changing demographics of the northern parts of Canada. Learners will also discuss the impacts of national or provincial economic policies on these communities.
