Negahneewin Leadership in Contemporary Communities

This second course in the Negahneewin series will introduce learners to principles of leadership grounded in an Indigenous framework, as reflected in traditional practices and customary laws. Learners will identify a range of Indigenous leaders, discussing and contrasting the differing leadership styles demonstrated in Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Key themes will be the recognition of strengths, conflicts, and challenges to contemporary Indigenous leadership, and the distinction between formal and informal modes of leadership.
