Analytical Instrumentation

This course introduces students to analytical instruments used for industrial process control. The underlying physical and chemical principles of operation will be explained, and the basic mathematics of calibration and applied QC/QA of measurements introduced. Sampling schemes, installation practices, and applications are outlined, emphasizing analyzers in widespread use for water treatment and continuous monitoring of air emissions. Practical experience is gained through laboratory exercises and visits to industrial facilities.
